"Oh." He hadn't even noticed I'd came down. He threw the core of his apple away and walked over, sitting on the chair next to us. "Hey Harley."

"I think it's safe to say you grew. A lot." I laughed.

Jazzy followed him, sitting down on his lap and wrapping her arms around him.

I did my best to stay quiet, but it was hard. Her second day here and she was sitting on his lap.

"You two seem.. close." I worked hard to not say anything. "Jas didn't you just get here yesterday?"

"Yeah she did." Jacob noticed our tension, gently pushing Jas off him and making her sit next to him. "I started talking to her and trying to get her used to life outside the.. prison."

"So you weren't asleep like I was?" I looked at Jas.

Jas got shy again. Her walls went right back up. She just shook her head, looking down. "They didn't let me sleep."

"I'm sorry." I looked away. I just made her uncomfortable. Good job Harley.

"It's not your fault. Those people are evil." Jazzy said quietly, pulling her knees to her chest.

"Jas." Jacob whispered softly. "It's okay. They can't touch you here."

"That doesn't change what they are." Jazzy shook her head, burying her face in a pillow.

"Shh." He wrapped his arms around her. "I know what they did to you." He paused. "Both of you." Then looked back at her. "It's all over now."

Jazzy shrugged his arm off, sighing. "They're still bad people though."

"Yeah.. they are." Jacob sighed. "That won't change."

Jazzy got up, going outside and to the woods again. She wished she could find the wolves again.

"Good job." I clapped. "Made her sad."

"Let me go get her." I got up, walking outside and finding her. "Jas?" I looked at her. "I'm sorry. That's all I know to tell you. All of what happened to you was because of my own stupidity."

"it wasn't." Jazzy shook her head. She looked down, tears running down her cheeks. "I missed everything. I don't know what anything is."

"Baby.." I stopped. She didn't want me to touch her. "Trust me.. it was my fault. When Jacob was 5... we were running from soldiers. He fell down a bank and I jumped down to save him. Before I could get away they had me and hauled me there. I was only awake for a few months.. I remember going in labor with you but then they came and sedated me.. I just now woke up last night." I bit my lip. "Its my fault you're in this situation today."

"Mom." Jazzy was crying harder now. "Why are they hurting us anyway?"

"They're scared of us." I said quietly. "They don't understand us and therefore they are scared of us."

"Jacob is mad at me." Jazzy looked down. "I didn't know I wasn't supposed to sit on him and he got mad." She shook her head.

"He isn't mad." I laughed softly. "He's scared that Daniel will skin him alive."

"Why would he do that?" Jazzy huffed.

"You-" I laughed again. "Okay.. Well.. it's nature for a dad not to want any man dating or even looking at his daughter. Daniel knows what... thoughts.. run through boys his age and doesn't want those applied to you."

"Are they bad thoughts?" JAzzy sat up. "Is Jacob going to do something bad?" She asked quietly, scared.

"Bad thoughts? No." I shook my head. "Just thoughts.. Daniel isn't comfortable thinking about. Did they teach you anything about how.. people that love eachother have babies?"

"No.. they didn't. They didn't teach me anything." She sighed. "But Jacob and I kissed.. a lot last night." She giggled somewhat.

"Sit." I sat down on one of the logs, waiting for her to sit down as well. "I'm saying this as a friend.. not your mother.. let me get that straight." I paused, licking my lips. "Well.. Daniel knows how Jacob thinks. I'm not saying Jacob only likes you because he wants this in the end, but it would be an.. added bonus.. to speak. Jacob probably wants to have sex with you at some point, which makes Daniel uncomfortable. He doesn't want to think of his daughter in that way... so the easiest thing to do is to push Jacob away from you."
