"I didn't mean that." I looked down. "And he didn't mean to have me killed. It was a misunderstanding.. all of it."

"Why won't you guys let me be around Jacob? Dad nearly killed him and I haven't even seen Jacob in a day." She sighed. "It's not fair."

"I.." I shook my head. "I don't know why, but your dad doesn't trust Jacob. I'm trusting his judgement and agreeing with him. If he says Jacob is a bad influence, it goes. It doesn't have to seem fair to you."

"He doesn't know Jacob." Jazzy sighed. "None of you do."

"I don't know Jasmine. I'm sorry. I'll try to work on him but no promises." I sighed. "How's your arm?"

"I'll tell you when you tell dad to let me date Jacob." She huffed.

"You know." I looked over at her. "It's not like my life was perfect the last decades either. You can drop the bad-ass attitude around me."

"Dad killed you and you still get to be married to him so why can't I be around Jacob?" She sighed.

"I don't know." I scratched the back of my head. "I really don't know. I.. I'll ask him for an answer."

"The answer is no." I leaned in the doorway. "Period."

"Go away." Jazzy looked up at me, but back down quickly. "You tried to lock me in here again."

"Trust me that's the last thing you want to do." I looked at Daniel. "Don't lock her up again.. please... she's not a prisoner.."

"It's the only way to keep her away from Jacob." I shrugged.

"I hate you!" Jazzy snapped. "Go. Away."

"Jas." I looked back at her. "You didn't mean that."

"Was this a talk or a make-Jazzy-into-even-more-of-a-prisoner session?" Jazzy looked down. I had already left, done.

"Treat your father with some respect would you?" I stood up. "Maybe I was right about you being ungrateful."

"So what you said about you not meaning it five minutes ago was a lie? Does that make the statement that you both love me a lie too? Because it feels that way." Jazzy slid under her covers, looking away to hide tears.

"I do love you." I backed up a little bit. "I do. I just.. you don't understand. I wouldn't expect you to anyway." I closed the door softly on my way out, finding Daniel. "Alright well she hates me too. A+ parenting."

Jazzy took a deep breath, getting up and pulling shoes on. SHe walked downstairs. "I'm going out." She said before walking outside.

"Yeah, well. Happens when you have a bitch for a daughter." I sighed.

"I guess she gets it from me." I laughed, taking his hand and kissing it. I saw the ring on it. "Do you still have mine with you?"

I pulled it out, laughing. "Yeah."

I offered my hand, more of a put-it-on me gesture than a hand it to me gesture.

I slid it onto her finger, kissing her hand. "I love you."

"I love you too." I wrapped my arms around him, sighing. "Why did she have to take after me in that category." I laughed. "You're short tempered-ness is easier to deal with."

I laughed. "We can't all be perfect like me." I teased.

Hours later, Jazzy came home. A bright blue chunk of hair was clearly visible, and obviously new.

"What did you do to your hair?" I stared at her.

"I like it." Jacob was downstairs. More like saw her walking back so decided to poke his head out, rather than hanging with us downstairs. "It makes your eyes stand out."
