Not All Angels Have Wings

"Well? If you wanted to take her when would be the easiest time?" Jaxon huffed.

I called Daniel's cell, praying he'd pick up. Apparently I'd been late one too many times for him. And I couldn't help but notice the blue mazda that kept cruising by.

"When-" I looked at my phone. "It's only noon.. Sup?" I asked her as I picked up.

"Heya." I tried to sound cheerful. "So um. Boss didn't exactly buy the story that I had a hell of a day yesterday and overslept and .. well. Long story short I don't have a job anymore and I keep watching mazda circle around and he keeps getting closer."

"Okay.. You know that auto shop like.. a block down the street from there? I need you to walk there, tell the guy at the desk you know me and he'll help you out until I can get there." I said into the phone, getting up.

"I take it that was the damsel then?" Jaxon watched him. "Need us to go with?"

"On my way." I pushed myself off the building, cutting down the side streets and slipping inside. I was lead into the very back of the store from there, never bothering to hang up the call. He'd told me not to hang up on him in a situation like this. If something did happen, he said, being able to hear it would help.

"Maybe. Yeah." I grabbed my keys, waiting on Jaxon and Kevin, the only two around, to get in the car. "On my way." I tried keeping a level speed as I went to the shop, parking out front. "Alright we're here. I don't see the mazda."

I came out from the back, wrapping my arms around Daniel. "I swear there was one."

"I believe you." I wrapped my arms around her, kissing her cheek.

"No there it is." Kevin pointed out. Down the road.

"Yeah that's it." I watched the car, slowly stopping. Almost just watching us. "What do we do?"

"Go back inside and hide. We'll be done with this soon." I kissed her, then gently nudged her towards the door again. Looking back and nodding at Jaxon and Kevin to back me up if need be.

I walked back inside, ducking in the back again. I didn't really like the smell of tires but there wasn't much I could do about it.

"We just waiting for his ass to get over here or what." Jaxon asked quietly. "We're not ready for a standoff."

"Well. I'm waiting for him to show his ass yeah." I nodded, trying to see through the windsheild.

The mazda disappeared for a second, lost in the traffic, then pulled up right behind them all, revving the engine before killing it to get their attention. "Morning boys." Drake stepped out.

"Sleep well Drake?" I sneered. Pulling my gun out of the glove compartment of my car.

"Put that thing down boy before you get hurt." Drake motioned his gun at Daniel's hand.

"I'm not stupid." I growled. "You put yours down I put mine down too."

"Alright." He made a show of putting his gun away. "So I see your slut didn't die."

I put my gun down on the hood of my car. "Nope. Sorry." I glared.

"she should of." He held up a little glass tube filled with something that looked like water. "You should remember what this is? There was more than enough to kill her. So I gotta ask. What'd you do."

I shook my head, shrugging. "Don't know what I did." I almost laughed. "Maybe it wasn't me fixing it but you fucking it up in the first place."

"How hard could it be?" He laughed. "I already had her mouth wide open from shoving my dic-"

"You didn't. She would have told me." I growled. "Nice try."

"How much do you think she remembers?" He laughed. Lying but just seeing what Daniel would do. "How about you just kill yourself and we end this right here."

"Honestly Drake you make me laugh at how stupid you are." I shook my head.

"Take a look at this when you got time." He tossed a flash drive to Daniel, climbing in his car and leaving.
