Blood is Thicker than Water

"Harley!" Jessica yelled from the bottom of the steps. "Come on girl you're gonna be late."

"I don't have a date anymore. Why bother?" Harley had taken her dress off. The bastard just texted her, saying it wouldn't work out, thirty minutes prior to senior prom.

"Harley. I swear. I will go up there and get you myself if you don't come down here. With that dress on. You looked beautiful." Jessica yelled back, soon hearing scuffling noises and seeing Harley coming downstairs with her dress on. She did a quick fix on her makeup, getting into the car with Jessica.

"I still don't see why I'm going." She muttered.

"Well. I don't have a date either. So you're my date now." Jessica smirked, putting the car in gear and getting at the school a few minutes after it officially started. "Fashionably late." She grinned, seeing more of their friends there.

Harley made herself smile, greeting each one of them. Then the living devil herself walked over, fake nails and some poor bastard on her arm, the quaterback of the varsity team. "Well look who showed up from the sticks. Where's your date? No pretty pony?" She sneered.

Harley rolled her eyes. She wasn't in the mood to put up with this. "Oliva.. hunnie fix that mole?" She sneered back at her.

Oliva gasped, fingering her face. "I do NOT have a mole." She snapped, stomping her foot like any prissy girl would.

Harley had to work hard to not laugh. "Here's a mirror." She pointed her in the direction of the bathrooms, watching her face get a little red. Jessica was cracking up laughing behind her.

"Well played." She kept laughing. "Come on. Let's go inside." She tugged on Harley's wrist, leading her inside, their heels clicking on the pavement.

"Daniel hurry up you slow ass-" Spencer called down the hall.

"Calm your tits Spence. I was getting the bomb." Daniel rolled his eyes, fixing the tie on his suit. "Be my date to prom?" He smirked.

"God dammit Daniel get in the car." Spencer rolled his eyes.

"You could have just said no." Daniel sighed, getting in the passenger side. "Left then right then another right then a left." Daniel read off the directions sheet.

"I know the way to your school dumbass I'm your older brother." He groaned, pulling into the parking lot. "Now go in. You know what to do. at 10, halfway through the dance, you come back out and get the bomb, blow the place."

"Yeah yeah." Daniel waved his hand away. He got out of the car, walking into the dance. "Where's your date Hansen?" a few guys snickered. I could kill those people in my sleep.

Harley looked back outside, seeing somebody get out of the car. She elbowed Jessica, getting her attention. "Who's that?" She whispered.

"Some kid that transferred here last semester. Saw him all of two days." She shrugged. "They won't let him in. Don't waste your time."

"What's his name." Harley didn't take her eyes off him. "I mean. He didn't get out with a girl. And you are the most annoying date ever."

"Thanks a lot hunnie." Jessica laughed. "Daniel I think. I had one class with him."

"Huh." Harley shrugged, pushing through the crowd. "I'll see if he gets inside."

"Name." The guard said.

"Daniel Hansen." He huffed. The guard scanned his list. "You attended 4 days of school. No prom for you buddy." He said, pushing him aside.

Daniel brushed off his suit, walking back the way he came, sitting on the curb. He didn't care about his suit getting dirty. He was supposed to sit here and stare at shit for 2 hours. Spencer had left to get a wire they needed for the bomb. Daniel was stuck here on the curb, able to hear some of the football pussies snickering about him.

Harley watched him sitting on the curb, and that's when Oliva showed back up. "Is that your boyfriend? That drop out?" She sneered.

"You look ugly when you show that much teeth... well wait you looked ugly to being with." Harley just wanted to get away. She didn't even want to be here in the first place. The after prom. That kept her thinking positive.

"You wouldn't know beauty if it hit you in the face. Oh wait. It did. But you were so ugly it ran away again." Oliva smirked.

"Where'd that dumbass of a boyfriend of yours go? Or is he already spiking the drinks?" Harley knew she couldn't push away.

The sad thing was Oliva had the entire school under her control. Head of student council, head of cheer, the superintendents daughter. All it took for her to get somebody kicked out was a slight mention of rude talk. "Guards we have a problem over here." She yelled, point at Harley.

"What?" One of them asked. He knew Harley. He worked for her parents.

"She's high. I'm asking that you kick her. Do me a favor would ya? I don't want her getting in trouble." Oliva cocked a don't-fucking-test-me smile, laughing when he had to escort Harley outside.

Harley instantly pulled out her phone, texting Jessica what all had just happened. She was pacing, her heels clicking loudly against the concrete.

Click. Click. Click. Where the hell is Spencer?

Click. Click. Click. This is getting annoying.

Click Cick- "Stop god damit!" He snapped, standing and looking at the girl in heels pacing. Shaking his head he looked over as Spencer pulled up. He turned away from her and grabbing the small but powerful bomb out. He put it in his suit pocket. Walking to the back of the school, he set the bomb up with careful hands, walking back to the front and calmly getting in Spencer's car. They drove off.

"You better have set it up right." Spencer warned.

Seconds later a huge boom was heard the school went up in flames and debris flew everywhere, screams were heard, and the music of the prom stopped.

"You gotta have more faith in me Spence." Daniel chuckled lightly, lighting a cigarette and smoking it.

Harley was at the far end of the sidewalk when the bomb went off, knocking her off her feet. There wasn't any screams. That was the scary part. She looked down, her light blue dress now stained with her own blood coming from where a piece of glass hit her side. She got up, taking off her shoes and running inside, trying to see if anyone made it. But she couldn't find anyone.

The whole police department and fire trucks and ambulances were there within minutes. One officer, named Mike, saw Harley. She was the only one moving. "Ma'm are you injured?" He asked, then when he was close enough he could see that she was. "We have an ambulance out front. I also want to ask you a few questions so that we can try and figure out who did this." He said, walking back out front, making sure she was following.

Daniel half threw the controller down when Spencer beat him. "In my defense. I'm half drunk." He shrugged it off.

"Yeah sure. The Daniel I know is the smartest when he's half drunk." Spencer smirked.

"I still don't know why the hell we had to blow up the prom." Daniel sighed.

"I told ya. It was to test out our new bomb." Spencer yawned, tired. "The other guys should be back in a day or two. I'm going to bed though." He said, walking upstairs.

Daniel stood up, changing out of his suit and into supras, jeans, and a black hoodie. He grabbed his gun, then walked outside, throwing the hood over his head. He walked towards the school, standing like a growing crowd now was, by the ambulances.

Harley followed him back outside, glancing down at her phone. There was already 6 missed calls from her mother. Fuck. "I'm fine. Really. Let me just call her." She showed him her phone, soon pressing the call back button.

"Harley!" Her mother screamed through the phone. "Are you okay! We saw it on the news that the place exploded! We're on our way now! Hunnie are you okay? What happened?"

"I'm fine." Harley tried to say something but her mom bulldozed her over.

"I thought you were dead! We heard that nobody inside made it! That God-"

"Mom!" Harley finally yelled, taking a breath. At least she could talk now. "I'm fine. You can come here if you want but I've got a policemen who needs to ask me a few questions and he's been waiting.." She told her mother goodbye before hanging up the phone, sitting down near the ambulance and the other policemen.

"Did you see anybody suspicious?" One of the policemen walked up to her, but was quickly pushed away by an EMT. Harley sighed. She'd been hurt a lot worse by horses, and the cut wasn't that deep. They soon had it out of her, her midsection bandaged over her dress. Then the police could resume questioning. "We need to know."

"I don't know.. I got kicked out.. somebody lied and said I was high. I mean. There was this guy sitting out front, but I don't-" She looked up, and spotted the same guy from earlier.

"You don't what?" The policeman asked. "We need you to focus." He said.

Daniel stared at her. He knew she had probably pieced it together by now. And if not. Well. Say anything and your dead.

"I don't think he did it. He didn't go to school here." Harley looked back down in front of her, staring at nothing in particular.

"Well it's still a lead. Do you know him?" The policeman asked her, looking around to try and see what she was looking at earlier.

Daniel.. used to go to school here. Look him up. But she caught his look, so she stayed quiet. "No. I think he was a boyfriend to one of the girls, but they wouldn't let him inside. Sorry I'm not more help." She just tried to keep calm while lying. She'd lie her way out of a lot of things, but she hated lying to the cops.

"Do you know what girl he could have been dating? Maybe if we can find out about her we can trace back to this guy." The police believed her story.

Daniel leaned on the side of an ambulance that was close to him, listening to the police's questions and her answers. If he got caught. He'd be in prison forever because they could find out about his past crimes too.

"There were way too many girls there.. I honestly have no clue." She couldn't look at him. He'd caused this. She was just more afraid for her life than helping them find out who did this.

Then the sleek body of a black corvette pulled into the school parking lot, it's engine roaring loudly. Her mother jumped out of the car, running over and picking Harley up, squeezing her against her body. "I thought you were dead!" She was crying, and shaking holding Harley.

Harley wanted to ask her mom why she borrowed her car, but didn't say anything. "I'm really fine." She didn't hate her mothers hugs, but they'd grown apart in recent months. Harley got mad at her mom for spending all of the money she earned competing on new horses they didn't need. Eventually, they got into a fight over it, which was why she was staying at Jessica's house.

Elizabeth continued crying, and Harley eventually pulled herself free. "Mom. Look at me." She made her face where her mom had to look at her. "I'm fine. Okay? We should just go home." She watched her mother nod. "Wait. Am I good to go? I can give you my number if you need it." She couldn't look suspicious. The officer nodded, Harley wrote down her full name and cell phone number on a piece of paper for him, leading her mom back to her car. She got in the drivers seat, seeing as her mother was crying to hard to drive. Harley drove her back home, but then turned around and drove back to the school, parking much farther down the street. She just watched Daniel. How the hell he was so calm after that she had no clue.

Daniel watched the car drive off. And he didn't move. He wanted to see the rest of it. Eventually, the police and spectators cleared out for the night and he only saw the corvette. You know I can see you right?

Harley jumped, hearing his voice inside her head. Damn it. She got out of the car, closing the door behind her. She leaned back against the car, facing Daniel even though he was twenty or so feet away. "Who are you?" She gave up not talking. Just for show she looked over at a rock by his feet, watching it raise in the air and hang in front of his face. "You're not the only one who can do stuff."

"Oh well aren't you cool." Daniel rolled his eyes, swatting the rock away and walking closer. "You know my name. Your friend told you." He said. "I just don't give people much more than that as far as information about me goes." He added, leaning on a tree next to her car.

"My dead friend thanks to you." Harley looked up at him, meeting his eyes. "Daniel wasn't it?" She paused, looking him over. "I still got half a mind to go tell the cops what I saw."

"I'll kill you if you do." Daniel said back almost as soon as the words were out of her mouth. "And it's not like your so innocent either. I could always turn you into the government." He said, looking at his nails then putting his hand down and looking at her. "But I won't. Because I'm nice."

"A sphynix turning in another sphynix?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. "Why our school, tonight. That's all I want to know. I would of died along with the rest of them had I not got kicked out by one of the popular bitches."

"A test." Daniel said simply. He looked at her, then down where he was standing earlier. "Popular bitches are hot." He smirked. "Don't hate on them."

Harley started laughing. "No. They're stuck up and never had to work a day in their lives." She started walking back for the drivers side. Get out of here. Go tell the cops. This isn't safe. You can't do this.

Yes you can. Daniel grabbed her arm, pulling her away from her car and using one of his arms to hold her from behind, so that her arms were pinned to her sides. "You can't leave though." He whispered into her ear.

Harley's eyes widened, feeling his hands on her. "Let me go. Please." She whispered, figuring if he could read her there wasn't any reason to talk loud anyway.

"I don't trust you enough." Daniel said, walking home. Carrying her just like that. It was an awkward way to hold her, it put strain on his muscles, but it was the only way he could. He went upstairs and found a spare room, putting her in it. Not really throwing her, but not just setting her in it either. "Just. Stay here." He said, closing and locking the door to the room.

Harley heard the door lock, seriously starting to panic now. She walked over to the window, seeing how high up she was. The house backed off a cliff. She'd die in the fall. "Damn it let me go!" She yelled, trying the door but it was locked.
